Dear Campus Ministry Leaders of America,

On June 28, 2010, a historic and troubling ruling was filed by the United States Supreme Court declaring that a state school could deny school funding and other benefits, including public use of buildings, to a Christian organization unless it was open to non-Christian membership and leadership. This would be like telling a Baptist church that it had to consider Hindu and atheist applicants for a pastor position. Or it would be like telling an African-American student group that it has to be open to white supremacists. It’s a ruling that defies common sense and threatens the First Amendment rights of all students. Already, we are hearing reports that schools are misusing this ruling to try to eject Christian student groups from campus.

We have now entered the days, when again, like Daniel and his three friends, Christians must stand on the truth of God’s Word and not bow down to intimidating forces that would cause them to compromise for the sake of political and cultural expediency. We believe that this ruling is an invitation for true believers to stand for truth, pray like never before, and proclaim boldly the name of Jesus on their campuses. To simply wilt in the face of this ruling or to surrender when campuses try to misuse it to take away your rights is to give away more ground to the Antichrist ideologies pervading our universities and campuses.

When judicial and governmental rulings threaten to silence the voice of the Church, she only has one great recourse; united fasting and prayer as an appeal to heaven. Esther and the Jewish world, finding themselves under the death decree of Haman, fasted and prayed and then God turned the tide on their behalf. So still, we believe that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. When Daniel and his three friends were threatened with abolishment of their club on the campus of the university of Babylon, they united together in an all-night prayer gathering and God reversed the king’s decree and the testimony of Daniel’s God was proclaimed to the whole nation. What the enemy means for evil, the Lord brings about for good.

Therefore, we are calling all university students, campus groups, and campus ministry leaders from all over America to gather together for TheCall Sacramento, a 12-hour solemn assembly of fasting and prayer on September 3rd & 4th. We are holding this national solemn assembly on the 10-year anniversary of TheCall DC, where over 400,000 young people and adults gathered together to cry out to God for America. The stakes are higher now than they were ten years ago. It is time for a spiritual revolution on the campuses of America.

Burdened for America,

Lou Engle

“Gather to Me my consecrated ones, who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice . . . call upon Me in the day of trouble and I will deliver you” —Psalm 50:5,15

Ten years ago, four hundred thousand primarily young people, the consecrated ones, the Nazirites, gathered to the Mall in D.C. to fast and pray for America. Now, ten years later, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Seismic political, economic, and societal shifts are drastically reshaping California, every state, and the nation. This is the time for a great spiritual outpouring to be unleashed to meet the demand of these times.

God’s prescription in the day of trouble is to regather the consecrated ones to the place of the covenant, the cross, not just to be blessed, but to rend our hearts and call upon God. In that place of united fasting and prayer, God promises to release deliverance and help.

Therefore, we are again summoning thousands of young and old—those who have been marked by TheCall’s solemn assemblies and those whose hearts burn for their generation—to gather in Sacramento as consecrated, intercessory representatives from, and on behalf of, California and every state to “altar” their lives, “altar” their states, and “altar” the nation.

Can California be changed? Can a nation be changed? Yes, but only if they are altar-ed!

June 2010

Three weeks ago I returned from Uganda where I participated in TheCall Uganda. Prior to going I released a statement declaring the intent and purposes of my going there and holding TheCall. In that statement I clearly declared that TheCall was not going to Uganda to promote the Anti-Homosexuality Bill (”Bill”). Instead, the purpose of the event was to pray and fast for this nation in crisis.

I was actually asked to release a petition at TheCall for the people to sign in support of the Bill. I did not allow that to happen because the purpose of the gathering was not a political gathering; it was a prayer gathering. However, I had to leave the prayer meeting early to catch our flight back home. After returning home, I was told that the Bill had been clearly promoted after I left the meeting. I apologize that this took place and that my stated purpose of not promoting the Bill was compromised. I take responsibility for what was done on the stage of TheCall, even in my absence.

That being said, I am grateful that I had the privilege of going to Uganda and meeting Christian leaders who explained their heart concerning the Bill. Not one was carrying even an ounce of hatred for homosexuals. They actually desired to influence the lawmakers in Uganda to lessen the penalties. However, they were committed to raise up a principled stand to protect their people and their children from an unwelcome intrusion of homosexual ideology into an 83% Christian nation, an intrusion that is being pressed upon them by the UN, UNICEF, and other NGOs and Western colonialist powers.

These powers are threatening to withdraw funding from Uganda if they do not open their doors to these ideologies. They shared with me with broken hearts some of the painful stories of the effect of this worldwide pressure, as it is being pushed and promoted into their educational system. I appealed to them that in all their labor and their stand they express the mercy of Christ to broken people, but I also stood with them in their desire to not succumb to the political ideological pressures of the West and many of the voices of the Western Church that have come strongly against them.

These brothers in Uganda will give an account to the Lord on how sternly they stood as a prophetic community in their nation and we, the Church of the West, will give an account for our response when homosexual ideology swept into our nations.

For TheCall,

Lou Engle

April 28, 2010

When TheCall was invited to come to Uganda our intent was to join with the leaders and the people of the great Ugandan Church in a gathering of fasting and prayer to confess our personal and national sins, to pray for God’s blessing on the nation, and for a great spiritual awakening among her youth. Personal and national repentance among Christians and prayer for spiritual awakening has been the core focus of TheCall since her inception.

TheCall had no knowledge at the time, of the Uganda homosexual bill and the controversy surrounding it. TheCall was unaware that our genuine intent to encourage the Ugandan church in prayer would thrust us into an international controversy.

TheCall, in 2008, mobilized thousands to pray and fast in California that marriage would be upheld between a man and a woman, believing this to be God’s design for the good of society, family, and children. TheCall belief and intent has never been about promoting hatred toward the homosexual community as a whole or towards individuals who identify as LGBT. We have always sought to offer a message of love and redemption to those with same-sex attractions, though at times our communication could have been expressed more effectively and graciously. In this aspect, we humbly seek your forgiveness if we had not communicated God’s righteousness and mercy adequately.

Now recently, TheCall has been wrongfully marked and vilified as an organization promoting hatred and violence against homosexuals and as one that supports the Uganda bill as currently written. To the contrary, we have never made a private or a public statement of support for that bill. Though we honor the courage and stand with the stated purpose of the many Church leaders in Uganda who are seeking to protect the traditional and biblical family foundations of the nation, we have serious concerns with the bill as presently written, especially in terms of some of the harsh penalties for certain homosexual behaviors or offenses.

Sadly, many around the world are identifying TheCall with these aspects of the bill. Our concern is not to avoid the controversy the bill is stirring up, but to give an accurate representation of biblical values and the heart of Christ for all humanity. Though TheCall is not afraid to take a clear stand on biblical truth on matters of sexuality, we are deeply concerned that TheCall ministry would not wrongfully reflect the character of Christ, and we do not see the character of Christ reflected in some key aspects of the language of the current bill.

Therefore TheCall, though continuing to be held in Uganda, will not promote this bill. In fact, we challenge the Church of Uganda to join with Christians around the world, to first examine our own moral failures, confess our own lack of love, and from that heart seek to establish true biblical standards, reflecting compassion for those struggling with same-sex attraction and equal justice for criminal offenses committed by heterosexuals or homosexuals. We believe this also reflects the heart and intent of the Christian leaders of Uganda.

In releasing this statement, we want to take this opportunity to reiterate our deep love for the homosexual community and, as followers of Jesus, our commitment to oppose all hatred and violence directed towards that community.

For TheCall,

Lou Engle

March 1—April 9, 2010

There are moments in history when a door for massive change opens. Great revolutions for good or for evil occur in the vacuum created by these openings. It is in these times that key men and women, and even entire generations, risk everything to become the hinge of history—the pivotal point that determines which way the door will swing. We believe that America is in such a moment of history.

Four years ago, a profound movement of 40 day fasting and prayer chains spontaneously erupted on university campuses across America. God was breathing prayer for university awakenings. At the same time, Lou Engle joined with the Justice House of Prayer in Boston for 40 days of prayer and fasting from March 1st to April 9th. Hundreds of young people gathered to pray and fast, day and night, for breakthrough at Harvard and for the Ivy League schools.

During that 40 day season a trusted godly man had the following dream: “I saw masses of young people with welts on the temples of their head. I then asked, ‘What are those welts on the temples of their head?’ I heard a voice answer; ‘It’s poison ivy on the mind of a generation. The Ivy League universities were intended to be the leaves of healing and to bring the light and the glory of God to the nations of the earth. Instead, they have poisoned the mind of a generation.’” This dream is profound as it speaks to the ideological strongholds we face, but also to the intended purpose of these schools and what could be if we pray.

Now four years later it seems the wind of God is blowing again. Bethany Temple, the leader of JHOP Boston, felt an urgency once again to call all of New England universities to 40 days of fasting, but she needed confirmation. A young man gave her the following dream: Lou Engle was on a stage praying with a drummer behind him. The prayer that was being prayed was “Beseech the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into the harvest field.” Suddenly, the drummer interrupted Lou with what sounded like the voice of the Lord, declaring, “Now has come the salvation of God! And it will begin on April 9th, 2010.”

Obviously, such a dream with a date must be carefully weighed before the Lord, but April 9th is the same day that the 40day fast ended four years ago and it is also the anniversary of the Azusa Street outpouring. Could it be that Lou Engle praying represents the 40 day fast that God wants to interrupt and answer with a new move of evangelism and a new breed of spiritual awakeners stirring the universities of New England and the nation? Even now, reports of outpourings of the spirit are being heard on scattered universities.

The students of IHOPU in Kansas City, MO have been experiencing an extraordinary move of the Holy Spirit marked by salvation, physical/emotional healing and deliverance. We believe this is only a foretaste of what is about to be released upon our nations campuses. Knowing nothing of the previous dream, the leaders of IHOPU were stirred to launch 40 days of prayer, fasting and evangelism targeting Boston and the Ivy League schools of New England during these very dates – March 1st through April 9th.

On the weekend of April 9th, not coincidentally, Awakening America is gathering students from across the land to Oral Roberts University with an expectation of imminent spiritual visitation in the nation. On April 9th as well, Jeremy Story with One Cry, will be gathering in New York City at Times Square Church and they are expecting hundreds of university students to cry out for campus awakenings in America. Also on February 25th, the Collegiate Day of Prayer is being resurrected after nearly 100 years of silence. Many other prayer initiatives are taking place in our universities. What is going on? Prayer is being breathed for university awakenings and all of this coincides with a prophetic word given by William Seymour, the Azusa Street pioneer, that in 100 years (prophecy given in 1909 by William Seymour) another great outpouring of the Holy Spirit would take place. If we are in such a moment where a door for great change is opening, then by all means we must become the generation that risks everything to become the hinge of history. Let us follow in the path of our Master who fasted 40 days preparing for his apostolic gospel to be unleashed in the earth.

With this faith in our hearts, we are calling all of those whose hearts are stirred in colleges and universities across America to engage March 1st through April 9th in a 40-day Daniel fast (no meats, no sweets and limited intake) March 1st through April 9th releasing one great cry, one dominating prayer, “Lord of the harvest thrust forth laborers into the harvest field. Give us a third great awakening in the universities of America!”

40 years ago a great spiritual rebellion and revolution took place on the campuses of America and now we are reaping the fruit of that 40-year rebellion. But, 40 years are up and we are believing that a new generation will arise with the flaming tongue of the gospel and launch a spiritual revolution that could shake humanism and false ideologies through a mass harvest of souls coming to Christ. Shall we not dare to believe that giants were meant to fall and that God is greater than the boasting spiritual powers that dominate our universities today? Let us go up and possess the land for the sake of Christ.

21 Day Fast for the State of Maine

Upholding through Divine Assistance

During 2007, thousands of believers fasted for a 40-day period and prayed that God would restrain the spiritual powers that are behind the homosexual agenda and the drive to redefine marriage in California. Three days before the vote on Proposition 8, 30,000 people gathered together for a solemn assembly to invoke heaven’s assistance in the great heavenly battle, as well as to pray for God’s power to be released for the freedom and healing of thousands struggling with same-sex attraction who yearn to be transformed by Christ. Proposition 8 was upheld through the incredible mobilization of the state and we believe through divine assistance as well.

Partnering with Heaven

Recently again, I have been challenged by the Lord in a profound way to raise up a wall of intercession to hold back the encroaching ideology. Ezekiel 22:30 says, “I looked for a man who would build up a wall, and stand in the gap before me”. I have started to pray out of this scripture that God would begin to raise up a stonewall of intercession. Forty years after the stonewall riots, that many point to as the beginning of the homosexual revolution in America, we are calling for a spiritual stonewall to be raised up all across the nation. I’ve been asking God, “How do we build this stonewall?”

Recently, I was asked by national Christian leaders and pro-family leaders in Maine to call the whole state of Maine and all of New England to fast and pray for 21 days starting tomorrow October 14 through November 4th, election day. Maine will be voting on whether or not to legalize same-sex marriage. No state has of yet voted for same-sex marriage when the people themselves have gone to the polls. States that have legalized it have done it through the tyranny of courts and lobbyist pressured legislatures.

Maine is the next battlefield. Like California, there is a great mobilization effort on both sides. Prayer could be the winning blow. Daniel fasted 21-days and shifted the influence over the very kings of Persia partnering with the angelic realm (Daniel 10:12-14).

Build a Stonewall

Therefore, we are calling for prayer and fasting across the nation for 21 days in another flashpoint stand of spiritual resistance. On October 14th (Daniel 10:12-14), let the Churches of America turn from their own personal compromise with sin and from an apathetic silence.

Let us cry out to God for the state of Maine and lift the victory of the cross over every false ideology. Then, let us cry out to God for a great awakening in Maine, New England, and the Nation without which I see no hope for America. There are no more tomorrows. For such a time as this we are to build a stonewall and stand in the gap.

Consumed by the call,

Urgent Nationwide Call To Prayer

It is critical that the church in America understands the times and what needs to be done now. The natural things speak of the invisible. Natural happenings on the earth are revealing something that is going on in the spiritual realm. There is a great spiritual conflict with a rising tide of Islamic boldness being manifested. Several happenings are converging this week. First of all, our President has recently proclaimed, honored, encouraged the Muslim holy days of prayer and fasting called Ramadan. He was very silent on the National Day of Prayer but very vocal on the support of Ramadan. Interestingly at the same time a major Christian leader of the Emergent Church called for forty days of fasting and prayer in the same Ramadan period with the goal that the church will better understand our Muslim friends. We are all for understanding but we must have spiritual discernment as to the spiritual dark powers that are being invoked into our nation.

Cause for Concern

At the same time, on the 25th of September, Muslims are calling for a Muslim Day of Prayer in Washington DC (http://www.islamoncapitolhill.com/). They are calling for 50,000 Muslims to gather and pray on the DC Mall. This is the exact word of one of the Sheikhs who is leading this historic gathering, “Muslims should march on the White House. We are going to the White House so that Islam will be victorious, Allah willing, and the White House will become into a Muslim house.” These are not empty words. They speak of a dark spiritual intent and a coming day of great trouble to America.

A Divine Moment

Now these events are enough to awaken us to this significant throbbing moment, but when they all converge it becomes a massive spiritual alarm that must be responded to by the praying Church. This convergence, I believe, is urgently summoning us in the midst of the rising tide of Islamic influence in America to recognize that our God is above every god and that if we return to Him with all of our hearts and call upon Him with fasting and prayer then God could use what the enemy meant for evil to bring about a great day of salvation for Muslims in America.

Here is the Vision

First of all, we cannot be passive as a Church to let these kinds of developments go on without being challenged in the spirit. Our fight is not against Muslims, it is against principalities, powers, and forces of darkness. We are calling the Church of America at the end of Ramadan, from September 21st through 25th, to five days of concerted prayer. On Friday, September 25th, the Muslim Day of Prayer, we are calling the Church of America to fast and pray that Muslims would be moved by the Holy Spirit, convicted by the testimony of Christ, and even be visited by Jesus in dreams. We must pray that God would restrain the spiritual powers behind Islam and grant us the great awakening that we desperately need for America.

Calling Christians

Therefore we are calling Christians all over America to join Lou Engle, Mrs. Shirley Dobson, Tony Perkins, and many other major leaders in America to a national conference call to pray for America. Please join us on Thursday, September 24th from 7:30PM to 9:00PM Eastern for what we believe is a critical moment in American History.

For America,

From Bound4Life:

I am gripped with this present throbbing moment in American history. I believe there needs to be compassionate healthcare reform across this nation. We need to care for those in emergency health situations and strengthen the poor, the needy and those who cannot cover the exorbitant costs of healthcare. For the first time in our nation’s history we are on the verge of opening the door of public taxpayer funded abortion. If this healthcare bill passes as is it will mainstream abortion into the whole healthcare culture of America. Matt Lockett, who leads the profound prayer movement Bound4LIFE targeting the issue of abortion, has written a very clear statement on the inclusion of abortion in this healthcare plan. Please read. Please pray. Please act on it.

Lou EngleYesterday afternoon President Obama said in a conference call with faith leaders that government funding of abortions is a “fabrication” and “not true.” Now, does that confuse you? If you’re like me then you’re tired of feeling manipulated by carefully and artfully crafted words and phrases. This conference call was put together to counteract all the people that the President said were “bearing false witness” about his health care reform. Well, if the President wants to get King James and frame the discussion around the Ten Commandments, then I have to point out that “Thou shalt not kill” comes first.

I submit to you the revelation of the great abolitionist William Wilberforce. In a speech to the House of Commons May 12, 1789, he appealed to law makers:

“Policy, Sir, is not my principle, and I am not ashamed to say it. There is a principle above everything that is political. And when I reflect on the command that says, ‘Thou shalt do no murder,’ believing the authority to be divine, how can I dare set up any reasonings of my own against it? And, Sir, when we think of eternity, and of the future consequences of all human conduct, what is here in this life which should make any man contradict the principles of his own conscience, the principles of justice, the laws of religion and of God?”
- William Wilberforce

Oh, that the lawmakers of America would have this kind of moral clarity, conviction and perspective. The purpose of this call was to frame the health care debate that’s suffering profound loss of public support as a MORAL ISSUE and a JUSTICE ISSUE. On the call Jim Wallis called this health care reform a “moral imperative” and said, “We are in danger of losing the moral core of the discussion.”Yes, we are in great danger.

No appeal to conscience or faith will ever ascend to satisfy moral obligations until it embraces and values life AT ALL STAGES beginning in the womb.

On Sunday we passed the one-year anniversary of then Senator Obama’s statements during the Saddleback Forum in response to Rick Warren’s question, “At what point does a baby get human rights, in your view?” We all know the response that became famous– “Answering that question with specificity, you know, is above my pay grade.” Senator Obama went on to say though, “One thing that I’m absolutely convinced of is that there is a moral and ethical element to this issue. And so I think anybody who tries to deny the moral difficulties and gravity of the abortion issue, I think, is not paying attention.”

I couldn’t agree more. For us to try to have a discussion about reforming health care in America while at the same time degrading, discounting and dismissing legitimate dialogue about taxpayer-funded abortion is to deny the gravity of this preeminent issue. By the President’s own words our lawmakers are breaking trust with the American people in the most grievous way by NOT PAYING ATTENTION. The American people DO NOT want taxpayer-funded abortion, and lawmakers are threatening to put agendas before constituents. I’m all for clarity and honesty in this debate. Let’s get rid of the disinformation. Talk straight, and don’t hide behind semantics–which brings me back to my opening statement. How can the President say that government funding of abortions in this health care bill is a “fabrication”? It’s a shell game of fast and careful words aimed at keeping the public confused about the realities of this bill and its implications. There is no difference between using “tax funds” and “government-collected premiums.” That’s exactly the kind of gymnastic semantics being performed though. They both mean the same thing: GOVERNMENT FUNDING OF ABORTION. When Melody Barnes, Director of Domestic Policy, says that it’s not their “intent,” you have to reason that the outcome will still amount to the practical expansion and acceleration of the abortion industry.

Now is NOT the time to tone town our opposition. Now is in fact the time to rachet up awareness that, regardless of the President’s comments yesterday, lawmakers have repeatedly blocked or defeated any amendment to the bill that reinserts Dornan or Hyde Amendment language. Anything less is unacceptable. Without it no form of the bill is safe from the practical inclusion of abortion subsidized by the United States government amounting the greatest expansion of the abortion history since Roe v Wade. Why have they so adamantly been fighting against it? It’s because abortion is a centerpiece and a priority for the agendas carefully working behind the scenes and through this bill. The President called on people of faith to knock on doors and said he needs them to advance his health care reform. I say it is definitely a day to dig in heels and fight.

“When principles that run against your deepest convictions begin to win the day, then battle is your calling, and peace has become sin; you must, at the price of dearest peace, lay your convictions bare before friend and enemy, with all the fire of your faith.”
- Abraham Kuyper

So lay your deepest conviction bare before your neighbors and churches. Pray for major breakthrough in this debate. Pray for the hearts of lawmakers to turn. We’re winning the abortion debate in the mind and conscience of America. There is ample evidence of progress. Lawmakers must now reflect that change. Contact your Representatives and Senators now before they reconvene September 8th in DC. Attend any local town hall meeting and elevate the discussion beyond the fiscal dimension.

Below is an itemized list (compliments of FRC) of the facts so far. I ask you, does this still look like a “fabrication” to you?

When at an abortion clinic in Miami, a living-breathing baby is born during an abortion procedure and the baby is thrown away - alive into a plastic bag, the nation is appalled and the doctor is charged with two felonies and faces prison time.

If that very same abortion had not been botched, the doctor would have gone home in peace having put to death a viable human being before it was born. What white-washed insanity!

Today, the country faces another instance of insanity as President Obama has nominated Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to the highest healthcare post in America, the Secretary of Health & Human Services.

As governor of Kansas, MS. Sebelius has consistently vetoed restrictions against late-term and partial birth abortions that are performed on babies from 6th-9th months. She has also protected one of the most prolific abortion doctors in America, Dr. George Tiller from Wichita. His renowned 30-year practice has overseen the death of nearly 60,000 babies.

Not only has Governor Sebelius supported Dr. Tiller’s practice, she has walked in political collusion with him, dined with him in the governors mansion and has received major funding for her democratic gubernatorial association from his extraordinarily lucrative business. Dr. Tiller’s wealth comes mainly from his expertise in the abortion of pre-born babies in their 6th-9th month of gestation.

Further, Sebelius vetoed bills that would have stopped Tiller’s practice, including one bill that would require Tiller to present medical justifications for all his late-term abortions (SB 389, titled the Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act) and another that would enable prosecution or prevent illegal late-term abortions. It is very obvious when you see the funding stream from George Tiller’s lucrative practice to the political coffers of Governor Sebelius, $12,450 personally given from him and his wife and $120,000 from Tiller donated to the Democratic Governors Association in 2006. Interestingly, $200,000 from that same Democratic Governors Association went to a political action committee that Sebelius controls. She vetoed Bill HB2176 that would have demanded abortion clinics to attain to required health standards. She also voted to lesson restrictions on parental notification and informed consent.

President Obama wants a woman who has systematically disregarded the health of thousands of women and their unborn children by allowing late-term abortions to take charge of the nation’s health? How can someone so dismissive of human life be a health advocate for it?

Now, extraordinarily and providentially, Governor Sebelius’ Senate confirmation hearings will be held this week just as a case against Dr. Tiller goes to court in Kansas. Tiller is being charged with 19 counts of illegal late-term abortions after he claimed ignorance of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act, a federal bill signed into law in 2002 that protects children born alive from infanticide by abortion doctors.

Just as the Kansas-Nebraska Act was the turning point that fueled the Civil War, so now this present “Bleeding Kansas” could be another flash point to subpoena the conscience of the whole nation in this civil war over the horror of late-term abortions. Oh the irony of Tiller being tried for criminal wrongdoing, and Governor Sebelius who has sought to protect him from prosecution is heralded as a champion of healthcare.

Why should an abortion doctor be found guilty for criminal activity and a governor who has done everything to cover and protect that crime be exalted? Was it only the Auschwitz death camp workers who were guilty of killing the Jews or were the political leaders who sanctioned it guilty as well? The answer is obvious to anyone who has a heart.

Maybe in these two hearings America is really the one being brought to the high court of eternal justice and it is the nation’s conscience that is on trial. Certainly many senators will not compromise their convictions and vote against her confirmation. But, more importantly the American people will have eyes to see this most amazing juxtaposition of these two hearings and will be confronted with the appalling reality that is in the heartland.

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has shown her brazen support of late-term abortion in condoning the death into the 9th month of pregnancy, well beyond viability. If given a chance, these babies would be born and would live with breath in their own lungs! Health Secretary Sebelius won’t let that happen.

Thomas Jefferson wrote, “Indeed I tremble for my country when I consider God is just, and His justice will not sleep forever.”

PLEASE CALL YOUR SENATORS and plead with them not to confirm Governor Sebelius and begin to raise a voice of conscience or we will all be found guilty.

Today, March 5th, one of the most significant court cases in America’s history will take place. The California Supreme Court will hear arguments regarding the overturning of the vote of the people last year to pass Proposition 8, which defines marriage between a man and a woman. If this vote is overturned, not only will it set a major precedent of the court’s power over the will of the people, but it will likely be the flash point that will determine the future of America as liberal and homosexual agendas will disseminate throughout the educational systems and into the very fiber of American culture. The California State Senate just ruled against the peoples’ vote and asked the court to overthrow the defining of marriage as between a man and a woman. Senator Leno likened the people who voted for Prop 8 to the Germans who voted for the Nazi Regime.

During these past three months since President Obama’s election, the voices of rage against Judeo-Christian values and against the church have been emboldened to use inflammatory language and pass bills and laws that are anti-Christian in their very nature. When senators use such language, persecution is close at hand. We are in a desperate moment in American history. Everyone is pointing to the severe crisis of our economy, but I am convinced it is only an indicator of a massive moral decline America has slid into. It is time to pray, humble ourselves, and rid ourselves of moral compromise in the Church. If the salt loses its savor, it is only good for being thrown out and trampled under the foot of man.

Today we are calling the Church across the nation to pray.

Take this moment and hear His call to humility, fasting and repentance. If we do this, God can deal with kings and judges like He haunted Nebuchadnezzar with dreams and removed Herod by the angel of the Lord. This hearing today will be followed by a 90-day period in which the court must make a decision. Pray for these judges that the hand of God will influence their minds and hearts, that the fear of the Lord would fall upon them, and that dreams would invade their world, their wives, their children, and their innermost thoughts. Pray that God would restrain principalities and powers that have mustered their forces of demons to seize this nation through this door in California. Pray for an unprecedented outpouring of the Spirit in California and America. Pray that God would raise up righteous leaders and bring down the unrighteous ones. Pray for the cleansing of sexual compromise and divorce in the church so that she can reclaim spiritual authority. Finally, pray that the love of God would be poured out on those struggling with homosexuality across this nation. Oh that the power of God, the power of the gospel, would be released again to free the captives!

This is a moment in time that calls for crisis intercession.

To resign to an inevitable collapse of society is sin, for throughout history God has moved with amazing power to change the courses of nations and overthrow the wrongdoers. Just look at Elijah’s confrontation with Ahab and Jezebel. This could be our Elijah moment.

Seize the day,
